About

Welcome to my portfolio of musical stuff.

I am a guitarist, sound engineer, songwriter, producer and student of music – originally from a housing estate in Manchester. My musical career began in the ’90s as part of the thriving UK house music scene (No 6 in the UK charts). Following this, I have been a session musician (Guitar) for Faithless, Dido, Rob Dougan, Sia, Amy Winehouse, and Lodger. Sound/Recording engineer for artists such as Tom Jones, Portishead, and Dusted – and songwriter for the likes of Faithless, The Hempolics, Paulo Nutini, Sia, and Plan-K. Recent Projects include recording a music Podcast (ouchmonkeys) and co-writing and recording an album over lockdown (Plan-K). When I’m not making music I might be found hanging from a wall (Bouldering), running over mountains or relaxing with yoga.

I hold a first-class Ba (Hons) in Music (OU and Trinity Laban), and a Masters degree in Interactive Music and Advanced Studio Production (distinction) from Salford University. I am currently working towards a PhD (computer music) at Plymouth University.

My Musical/Academic CV may be viewed here.

Enjoy, Martin.
